The Pali Canon-based Buddhism (Theravada Buddhism) is spread in the areas of Dai and Blang ethnic groups in Yunnan Province, China. The people there have a similar Buddhist tradition and belief as the Southern Buddhist countries such as Thailand and Myanmar, all of which belong to the Pali Canon-based Buddhism. They directly recite the Pali language scriptures, so there is no need for translation. For centuries, they have maintained the excellent tradition of practicing and studying the original Buddhism according to the Dharma and Vinaya, which is admirable.
There are also several different sects of Pali Canon-based Buddhism in China, but these sects only differ in their precepts and rituals, not in their doctrines and teachings.
